This month's VPNA Pet of the Month is Mister! This adorable little guy will recieve a generous gift basket custom curated just for them from our neighbor Dr. Benjamin Wright & his team at Lakewood Vet Center.

Vet Near Me 75206 - Lakewood Veterinary Center - Dallas, TX
Lakewood Veterinary Center is a progressive veterinary medical hospital located in Dallas, TX. We’d love to meet your pet today!

Mister is a bichpoo (Bichon Frise & Poodle Mix) puppy who lives on Richard Ave and loves to play. He's a tiny guy who is scared of nothing - he loves all dogs and all people. He prefers the dog park over walks, but you might still see him walking the neighborhood from time to time. If you do, be sure to say "hi" and congratulate him on winning March Pet of the Month!!

Nominate a Pet to win Pet of the Month below:

Please feel free to re-submit your pet if you did not win in 2024. Unfortunately, our backlog of pets to choose from did not survive the latest update to the form service we use. Please refrain from submitting if you've already won.

More about our Sponsor - Lakewood Vet Center

We are excited to introduce our VP neighbor and local veterinarian who will be sponsoring our Pet of the Month and contributing a monthly pet care tip for our neighborhood. Dr. Ben Wright has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 25 years with 18 years of that right here at Lakewood Veterinary Center. Dr. Wright’s vision for Lakewood Vet Center was to have a close-knit, personalized neighborhood practice where he knew his clients and their pets by name. We think he has reached this goal as he lives less than a mile from his practice and runs into a client or two every time he is out and about in our neighborhood.

This month's tip is all about getting your pets ready for spring break travel!

Is travel in the cards for your Spring Break this year? Whether your pet’s coming along for the fun or having a staycation, make sure to include your pets in your planning! 🐕🌸 🐾

● Schedule a veterinary visit to check that your pet’s vaccines are up to date. Also check that your pet’s microchip registration is current. No microchip? Now’s the time!

● If you’re taking your pet across state or international borders, health certificates and other documentation from an accredited veterinarian may be required. We’re ready to help with health certificates and will ensure your pet is healthy enough to travel.

● Know for sure that your carrier will welcome your pet (some airlines now have breed and destination restrictions), what types of carriers and kennels are allowed on the plane, and how to label them.

● Make frequent stops if you’re driving. At least every 3-4 hours is best.

● Find a 24-hour emergency clinic in your destination. If your pet becomes sick or injured, you’ll be prepared.

● If your pet will be boarding, make sure you check with your facility to determine their requirements about vaccinations and parasite prevention as each facility has different regulations. Make sure any needed vaccinations are done at least two weeks prior to your pet’s stay.

● For detailed information on traveling with your pet, visit the USDA Pet Travel site.

● Need to make an appointment for vaccines or a health certificate? Call Lakewood Vet Center at (214) 826-4800 or visit our website https://lakewoodvetcenter.com/ today!
